OPPO has been pushing out a bevvy of elegant phones as part of its Reno series for some time now. The OPPO Reno7 Pro 5G is the most recent release from the company and it kicks off the company’s new year with a bang.
OPPO is singling out camera performance as the key selling point for the Reno7 Pro, which includes obtaining the services of Sony’s IMX707 sensor. This is the first smartphone to do so, in fact. Apart from that, the general specs sheet looks solid enough to warrant a thorough inspection of the device. Will this year be OPPO’s to claim in the affordable flagship space? Let’s find out in this review.

Verdict
The OPPO Reno7 Pro definitely wins a lot of style points for its design and in-hand feel. The cameras are up to the mark and the display is colour accurate to a very high degree. However, performance relative to the competition does leave you wanting for more, especially when the price is brought into the equation.
Design and display
OPPO’s smartphone design capabilities have always been held in high regard. Borrowing a bit of Vivo’s look from the V23 (review), the Reno7 Pro has a rectangular slab design with flat edges on all sides and a flat back. Employing a full glass back with a matte-finish is becoming something of a norm in this space and I’m happy with Reno7 Pro’s implementation. The squared-off edges cut slightly into my palm but not enough to cause any discomfort. In any case, OPPO provides a clear silicon case that has a textured grip for ease of use. I also love the nice tactical feedback on the volume rocker button and the power button’s lower positioning on the side. The usual combination of a speaker grille, USB C port, and dual-SIM slot can be seen on the bottom. There is no headphone jack present and with a thickness of just 7.45mm, it is easy to see why. The device is in the featherweight category compared to some of the competing devices, tipping the scales at just 180g. The triple-camera setup is slightly raised from the chassis and is dominated by two gigantic lenses while an LED flash unit and Colour Temperature sensor bring up the rear. I don’t usually hand out a 5/5 for smartphone design but the OPPO Reno7 Pro 5G is worthy of at least 4.5.
